During a decade of exile away from the desert, he pursued his spiritual quest for the perfect fish taco, traveling Andean countries playing stringed things, studying homiletics with liberal Lutherans, and working for nonprofits in Minneapolis. He lives in a dusty tan East Valley condominium with two pug dogs and the redheaded daughter of two organic dairy farmers and a newborn.
Kjellgren Alkire's graphic and interactive installations focus on the meaning and function of Christian subculture. Having been trained as both a printmaker and preacher, he bends these two disciplines into a singular fine art practice, constructing spaces and events referential of carnival games and religious gatherings. |
