Benjamin Phillips is an emerging artist who works in sculptural objects and drawing. Benjamin’s work has been exhibited locally in Canada and in the United States with two juried international student exhibitions at the University of Western Washington (2006) and the Beecher Center for Technology in the Arts, Youngstown, OH (2001).
Prior to relocating to Arizona, Benjamin lived in Vancouver, British Columbia, where in 2008, he received representation from Elliot Louis Gallery for his sculpture. Benjamin was the recipient of two artist grants including a Sheila Hugh MacKay Foundation Grant (2004), which is a National Canadian foundation, and an Elizabeth Greenshields Grant (2008), which is an international foundation dedicated to assisting figurative artists.
Benjamin was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and educated at the University of Victoria in Victoria, British Columbia (B.F.A.-Visual Arts with honors, 1998) and Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia (B.A. Comparative Religion, 1995).
Currently Benjamin is pursuing a Masters Degree in sculpture at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona.
