Gina DeGideo is an artist and ASU alum who uses photography, mixed media and bookmaking in her work to explore the human experience. As an Arizona native, growing up in the desert and constantly studying the ever-changing terrain, she is fascinated with the transitions and transformations found in the landscape and personal relationships with nature. Her art has been exhibited nationally and belongs in many private collections. Her solo exhibition Of Heaven and Earth is now showing at Eye Lounge in downtown Phoenix. In the series Along the Way I use film, light, and a very simple camera to let photography inform me about my life. I’ve relinquished the necessity to control every aspect of what the camera outputs in order to explore something truer to the experience of being in a place. The subjects and moments I choose to photograph are very intuitive and are found in my daily movements through the world.
