Artist Statement

Bob Galloway is a photographer in Phoenix, Arizona. His long-term projects draw from his observations made during journeys in the Mojave Desert over the last three decades. My interest in the desert ranges from vestiges of early cultures to outsider artists and other utopian dreamers who used the deserts to enact their personal visions. The photographs are notations on human interfaces with the liveable edges of the western deserts. In addition, he works with historical processes, plastic cameras, and pinholes in hopes of serendipitous moments.

Bio

He received a BFA from Ohio State University in 1978 and an MFA from Arizona State university in 1982. Bob has recently retired from Mesa Community College where he taught photography for 38 years.
