Mindscapes is the first solo show exhibition by new Eye Lounge Member artist Hyewon Yoon. 

Yoon’s recent body of work explores and organizes the organic structures and landscapes she passes by in her everyday life. She unites and manage images derived from life forms like wood, flowers, plants. She crystalizes these images from the environment to form her own world of emotion and awareness.  Through these imagined landscapes, she strives to create a peaceful mind for herself and she invites viewers to share her vision of the beauty in nature.   

 Yoon’s past works were oil paintings, but her new works are drawn with pen on canvas and panel. The organic nature of canvas and panels brings out a different visual interpretation of her mental landscape. The action of drawing fine one–dimensional lines on a permanent platform forces her to meditate deeply about her experience and then to express those lines with precision. Unlike oil painting, the permanence of ink does not allow her to retreat or make corrections, which she says is like actions taken in life.
