Artist Statement

My recent body of work is mountains with pen on canvas or panel. I pass by in everyday life or everywhere I go. Mountain’s metaphor for missing home, people, and eternity. The vastness is the ever and infinite sky. It’s the depth of field. It gives human beings this calming moment. I strive to create a peaceful mind for myself and share my vision of the beauty in nature.

I am using pen on canvas and panel. It is perfect for my situation right now as working as a full time mom and housewife. The organic nature of canvas and panels brings out a different visual interpretation of my mental thoughts.  The action of drawing fine one–dimensional lines on a permanent platform forces me to meditate deeply about my experience and express it with precision.  Unlike oil painting, the permanence of ink does not allow me to retreat or correct which is in likeness to actions taken in true life.
