Eye Lounge presents Kiss the Earth / Touch the Sky- a solo exhibition by Lena Klett. Made while in residence at Anderson Ranch Arts Center, the work in the exhibition is an investigation into site, hypothetical objects, and the relationship between intentional action and chance.
Lena Klett is an interdisciplinary artist currently based in Phoenix, Arizona. Her work seeks to examine ideas of impermanence, expectation, translation, and interdependency as ways to reimagine seemingly banal or unimportant objects from the natural world. She uses drawing, sculpture, and video to dissect, abstract, and transform an object in order to reconsider how our evaluations of importance and unimportance might change if we learn to see the world a little differently.
Klett received an MFA from Arizona State University in 2019 and a BFA in Fiber and Art History from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2014. Her work has been shown nationally and internationally, and she is a recipient of the 2019 Phoenix Art Museum’s Friends of Contemporary Art Emerging Artist Grant. She has been an artist in residence at Signal Fire Arts (Summer Immersion 2017), Shiro Oni Studio (Gunma, Japan 2018), Monson Arts (2020), and Anderson Ranch Arts Center (2021).
