Opening Reception: Friday, January 20th, 6 – 10 pm
From eye lounge member Ashley Czajkowski
Of a Domestic Ritual consists of installation works combining photographic imagery, sculptural objects, and video projections. The question of the “domestic” in these pieces speaks to the home and traditional expectations of women, but also to the relationship between notions of domesticity and animality. Posing just how the idea of “taming wild things” pertains to the realm of the feminine.
The works in the exhibition are meant to evoke ideas related to the domestic spaces that exist in the lives of both women and animals.
