Seeds and Souvenirs
A Solo Exhibition by Jacey Coca
Within Jacey Coca’s work, she walks along the bounds of challenging and appreciating Nostalgia. As she continues to grow into adulthood she has realized the duality of the memory. The beautification of what surrounds us can bring such joy, but it can also create unhealthy standards of what is obtainable. In Seeds and Souvenirs, she investigates the intervention of memory by manipulating nostalgic archetypes, like iconic family photos, and other materials like beads, hair, the lumen printing process, and other various experimental photographic processes. She creates work to gather a further understanding of the power and beautification nostalgia has over culture, memories, people, and herself.
Seeds and Souvenirs will be on display from February 21st through March 16th. Opening Reception will take place February 21st, at 6-9 pm. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
