Eye Lounge presents Yuna Kim’s first solo show, Stacking, Collapsing, Stacking, from September 16 through October 9, 2022. The exhibition features the artist’s latest short animations, focusing on everyday life. Since experiencing the pandemic, Kim’s work explores the mundane things unintentionally overlooked, revealing emotions of anxiety and desire inherent to living in this unprecedented era.
In Stacking, Collapsing, Stacking, thirty animations play on three screens. Each hand-drawn animation depicts thoughts and events the artist witnesses in daily life, a process Kim utilizes to transform the everyday into a portrayal of larger social issues. The work questions the mixed feelings hidden within our days.
Yuna Kim is an artist born and raised in South Korea. She earned her BFA degree in Printmaking and BA in Art Theory from Hongik University, South Korea.
