Eye Lounge proudly presents "Companion, Comrade, Kasama" Katherine Del Rosario's second solo exhibition as an esteemed member of Eye Lounge. Del Rosario presents a collection of drawings inspired from her reflections and insights gained through her involvement in the national democratic movement, striving for the genuine liberation of Filipinos across the globe. Within this body of work, she contemplates her evolving individual identity as Filpina American woman as it shapes more with a collective identity shared by her close kasamas, who are also part of the Filipinx Diaspora.

The Tagalog word ‘Kasama’ has many different layered meanings to Filipinos. The translation itself means “to be together.” It also means companion, comrade, tenant, fellow, friend, mate, and is used often as a term of endearment. These drawings display Del Rosario’s kasamas at mobilizations, protests, and places of rest, solitude, and celebration. The artworks serve both as tribute to those who have tirelessly dedicated themselves to the fight for democracy and a reminder that revolutionary optimism is necessary within the vast expanse of imperialist empires.
