Swapna Das

Artist Statement

Swapna Das has always been in a perpetual journey of self-exploration. Her spiritual practice has continuously guided and fueled her desire to discover the true essence of art and its significance in her existence. She believes that her art encompasses the profound idea that spirituality and creativity are intertwined. Her charcoal drawings showed the representation of the lifecycle in which humans experience collective emotion of distress and vulnerability. They also represent the unpleasant phase of low life conditions in which humans lose control in their life. Looking for depth and deeper meaning she started experimenting with ceramics sculpture which added a new dimension and an unusual perspective to all the organic complex and abstract elements in her creations. She is extremely thrilled to witness and share the evolution of my two dimensional work into a three dimensional structure where the abstraction of elements resembling tubes, strings and cords entangling with each other are vibrant and alive. She feels that her sculptures have a uniqueness in showing that human life can be extremely delicate and full of intricacy and inconsistency.
