CHERIE BUCK-HUTCHISON
Hinged Between Here and There
Pigmented Inkjet Prints on Silk Organza
2018
(Member 2014 – 2017)
Cherie Buck-Hutchison manipulates transparent layers to consider the metaphoric landscape. The unseen is materialized through the active process of overlaying. Her superimpositions include a range of realizations in diaphanous forms, including photography, video, performance, poetry, objects and ceramics.
Her series Between Here and There explores the imagination surrounding authority and magical thinking. The veiled psychological behavior shrouded within abuse of power is brought into an ethereal focus via a film of southwestern scenery.
Buck-Hutchison has a BFA in Intermedia from Arizona State University. She was named one of the Top 100 Creatives in Phoenix, Arizona in 2016 by The New Times. She is a recipient of the inaugural Carmody Foundation Community Grant. Her work has been shown locally as well as nationally.
