Tawny Kerr is a mixed media artist based in Arizona, working primarily in painting, drawing and sculptural installation. Her works are a meditation on memory and nostalgia, representing a struggle between an inward desire to preserve and the destructive reality of passing time. Landscape and the notion of place focus heavily in her work, toying with the boundaries of impermanence on a human scale and on geologic timelines. Everyday materials such as flowers, fruit, candy and other foods or natural items often appear in her sculptural work either in states of degradation or in visible processes of destruction, while her paintings and drawings investigate a relationship between ephemera and archive.
