Dain Q. Gore
Artist Statement
Both my paintings and puppetry are generally colorful, surreal and narrative in nature. My"INGS" are art object, puppet-like creations of painted, cut and assembled foam core, so named for thINGS that are do-ING and be-ING. I’m deeply inspired by depicting half-remembered myths of my childhood, mashed-up homages to moments and characters from podcasts and pop culture, and mis-remembered dreams. My wandering love of color, pattern and funky fantasy and spontaneity–my “Magpie Aesthetic”-- shows up in my hobbies, too: I've been painting fantasy/sci-fi gaming minis since 1988, and I recently won awards at GenCon and Warhammer’s Everchosen and have work in several collections.
I also enjoy video and board gaming of all kinds, love to sing New Wave songs in karaoke, and cooking deluxe ramen.
