Katherine Del Rosario
Artist Statement
Katherine Del Rosario reflects on being a Filipina woman in the diaspora, the displacement of home, cultural assimilation, Catholicism, generational relationships, and the harsh expectations of womanhood. As a displaced Filipina on stolen land, she also looks upon Philippine history as a context of understanding and reframing who she is. To know history -- is to know self. She chooses to create art because it continues to be her form of resistance and to push forward in an imperialist, capitalist world.
