A duo show of the artists Ashley Czajkowski and Ryan Parra

“Flora & Fauna” is an exclusive duo show of the artists and couple Ashley Czajkowski and Ryan Parra, exploring the connective threads between their individual practices and the feedback between their own work’s interest in Flora (Parra) and Fauna (Czajkowski). 

Working primarily as lens-based artists, Czajkowski and Parra’s work displays a uniting theme of interest in the natural world, and underlying tenor of its metaphysical and spiritual presence. Both artists approach their subject matter with exacting detail and care, Parra with his ethnobotanical approach to the plant life he documents, and Czajkowski’s ritualistic interactions with the natural environment she performs within.

Having met in graduate school, Czajkowski and Parra have been together for nearly a decade, but work in their own parallel artistic practices. However, glimpses of their partnership can be found in moments of their shared reverence and stewardship for the natural world. To this day, their only collaborative work has been their daughter Ayla (3), who is already beginning to show signs of interest in the flora and fauna around her that her parents’ art so expertly venerates.

The exhibition will be on display from March 21st to April 13th, with an opening reception taking place on March 21st from 6-9pm. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
